Drumming
Up Well-Being

Healing Opportunities Through Drumming

Featuring: Sharrie Thompson

WHAT THE EVENT IS ABOUT

Those who have experienced Drumming Up Well-Being report that it relieves

stress, tension, and mental and physical fatigue, while instilling a sense of recalibration, calm, and hope. Drumming provides a safe space to explore complex stories without words and without the risk of re-traumatizing ourselves. Movements made while drumming help release the energy of the memory and allow enough distance to reframe the story, enabling us to reconnect with and be fully present for ourselves.

  • "What happens in the circle, stays in the circle" atmosphere
  • Participate at whatever comfort level suits you
  • Learn to use the drum as your voice, drums go where words cannot
  • Release the heavy effects of unwanted emotions without discussing the surrounding situation, no need to rehash in front of anyone
  • Let go of uncomfortable issues you may not even realize are hanging around, leave it on the drum, no need to take it with you
  • Experience support, camaraderie, light-heartedness, and fun, emphasis on fun!

WHO IS OUR SPEAKER

SHARRIE THOMPSON, RN, B.S.N.

is the facilitator of Drumming Up Well-Being, where she uses the power of rhythm to create space for peace, calm, community, and hope.

Sharrie's passion for healing was born from personal experience. After an unexpected physical collapse in 1997, she spent 15 years navigating her way back to health through the exploration of multiple healing modalities. That journey transformed her from a bedfast 39-year-old into a vibrant 67-year-young wellness advocate devoted to helping others find their own path to well-being.

She brings a rich array of credentials to her work, including Reiki Master, Certified Clinical Aromatherapist, Shamanic Healing Practitioner, and trained facilitator of HealthRHYTHMS โ€” a program developed by neurologist Dr. Barry Bittman and music therapist Christina Stevens. One of her greatest joys is teaching healthcare providers to incorporate drumming into their practice to enhance healing outcomes.

At the heart of Sharrie's work is a simple but powerful belief: when you pick up a drum, you discover your own personal power. Drumming offers a safe, wordless space to release stress, process emotion, and reconnect with yourself โ€” no musical experience required.

The goal is simple: trade stress for peace, calm, and hope. And have a whole lot of fun along the way!
