President
Karen joined the board in 2009 when she started her service as secretary. Karen's ongoing leadership includes participation in the update of the HTWF bylaws and the ongoing development of policies and procedures. She has served in the role of President since 2012.
Karen's vision for HTWF continues to expand for utmost development of Healing Touch worldwide.

Vice President & Fundraising Chair
Nancy joined the Board in spring of 2012 as a Fundraising Chair. She has successfully implemented NEW fundraisers, Heel to Heal races and Internet Raffles generating new revenue. Nancy stepped up to complete the term of the Vice- president in the summer of 2013.
Nancy envisions the growth of the foundation into an organization providing significant credibility in research impacting education and energy medicine worldwide.

Treasurer
Norman has been responsible for the day-to-day management of HTWF's financial affairs since 2001. He maintains the Foundation's financial records, disperses funds, and assures compliance with applicable tax and legal requirements.
As HTWF expands to provide broader and more extensive services to the Healing Touch Community, Norman is striving to assure financial systems are in place to support those efforts.

Co-Chair Marketing and Publicity
Lee joined the Board in the fall of 2013. As co-chair of the marketing committee, he focuses on reporting HTWF activities through newsletters and the annual report. Lee was instrumental in the committee's growth to include public relations.
Lee has a passion for helping people. His vision for HTWF is to provide Healing Touch techniques to people in all countries.

Chair Grant Awards Committee
Beverly joined the HTWF board in fall 2014 and is responsible for managing all aspects of grants awarded by HTWF. She is also member of the Research Advisory Council for Healing Touch Program.
Her vision is to streamline the grant application process to increase and to expand research, instruction, and outreach of Healing Touch worldwide

Nancy joined the board in fall of 2013 as an active member of the fundraising committee. She has recently broadened her responsibilities to include Co-Chair of the Marketing and Fundraising Committee. Nancy will serve a new role as Organizational Liaison to develop and maintain relationships with complementary organizations
for the promotion of HTWF's mission.
Nancy's vision is to expand our horizons while bringing Healing Touch research, service and education to communities around the world.

HTWF Funding Opportunities
The mission of the Healing Touch Worldwide Foundation is to distribute funds to assist, to encourage and to advance the philosophy, objectives and techniques of Healing Touch.
To achieve that goal, the following categories are available for funding consideration.
Research: Supports research into the effects of Healing Touch
Service: Supports service and outreach programs promoting Healing Touch across the globe with activities such as HT sessions and educational information
International Education: The Janet Mentgen Vision Fund Supports training for residents of foreign countries as Healing Touch Level 1, 2 and 3 instructors

Our current goal of $100K is earmarked for qualified grant applicants in research, service and international education. The foundation is currently funding research at the University of Maryland, St. Joseph Medical Center Cancer Institute and Nemours/Alfred I DuPont Hospital for Children; supporting service at Military Stand Downs, Reunions and Welcome Homes; and providing international education through Healing Touch classes and free Healing Touch Clinics in Nepal.

What's the tax status of HTWF donations?
We frequently receive questions about our tax status and the deductibility of transactions. We are an IRS section 501(c)(3) charity. Our fundraising activities currently fall into four categories. Each category is discussed in general below. Any questions about your specific situation or a particular item should be referred to your tax advisor.
1. Donations of cash or goods: Are deductible as charitable contributions, allowed under IRS code section 501(c)(3). Generally, donors who provide goods for charities to sell at an auction are entitled to claim a charitable deduction for a contribution based on the market value of the item or the price the donor purchased the item at. Your specific allowable deduction needs to be discussed with your tax advisor. Goods are reported on Form 8283. HTWF is required to provide receipts for all cash and goods valued in excess of $500.00. For contributions under $500.00 the IRS considers the donor responsible for providing proof of donation (via cancelled check, bank transaction, etc. . .) However, the current HTWF practice is to provide an acknowledgement for all donations, citing the amount or the market value of the item.
2. Auction goods purchase: Individuals who purchase items at a charity auction may claim a charitable contribution deduction for the excess of the purchase price paid for an item over its tax base (what the item cost) or fair market value. The buyer must be able to show that he or she knew that the value of the item was less than the amount paid. It is currently HTWF's practice to provide an estimated market value on the bidding paperwork for each item and to provide and acknowledgement of auction purchases that includes the price paid and the market value of the item. Assuming the buyer has no reason to doubt the accuracy of the market value estimate, if he or she pays more than the published value, the difference between the amount paid and the published value may constitute a charitable contribution deduction. i.e.: $50 donation, purchased at auction for $55 = $5 deduction.
3. Race/Walk Entry Fee: Race entry fees are considered a purchase of goods at fair market value, so it is not considered deductible by the IRS. However, race sponsorships for "others beside yourself" that are from a business entity, may be handled as a deduction per your tax advisors recommendation. Sponsorships by individuals of an "others beside yourself" entry fee are considered a charitable contribution. We provide receipts for sponsorships. Pledges in support of an entrant are not made in return for anything and thus are considered donations to HTWF and would be fully deductible. We provide receipts where contact information is available.
4. Raffles: The IRS considers raffles to be gambling and as such purchases of raffle tickets are not generally deductible. We do not provide receipts for raffle ticket purchases.
